In-motion

In-Motion is an interactive kinetic sculpture that dramatically changes its position through interaction, with movements that can persist for up to 10 minutes. This piece delves into the dynamics between corporations, innovation, and mathematics, drawing significant inspiration from the Fibonacci sequence—a pattern pervasive in nature. By integrating this sequence, the sculpture assumes a more organic appearance, designed to divert workers or visitors from the monotony of their workspace.

This installation aims to inject dynamism into DBS Asia X (DAX) and to spark a sense of curiosity and innovation in visitors upon their arrival. Echoing the modular nature of DAX’s space, reminiscent of Lego, In-Motion is constructed from various components, celebrating the concepts of collaboration and creativity.

Fibonacci Sequence

The Fibonacci sequence, known for its infinite progression, serves as a metaphor for the endless possibilities that In-Motion represents. This interactive kinetic sculpture is ingeniously designed for adaptability, offering a canvas for creativity and change. The core mechanism that enables this flexibility is the strategic use of individual magnets, which can be either placed or removed by the participants.

This feature not only allows the sculpture to undergo a multitude of transformations in its appearance but also ensures that each interaction with it is unique. The ability to modify its form means that In-Motion can continually present new facets and dynamics, making every encounter with the sculpture a fresh and individualized experience. This perpetual state of evolution not only captivates the imagination of its audience but also symbolizes the concept of perpetual growth and innovation, echoing the natural and mathematical principles the Fibonacci sequence embodies.
